Mommy goes to College

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Ethan and I are in the car the other day and we are talking about why he changed preschools.  I see every ‘discussion’ as an opportunity to brainwash and we start talking about how when people get older they move on to different schools.

Me: Next you will go to kindergarden, then elementary school, then middle school, then high school, then COLLEGE!

Ethan: Will you go to college with me?

Now at first I hesitated, I was going to be truthful and say ‘no, mommy can’t go to college with you, some things you need to do on your own.’  We are big believers in truth and brainwashing over here.  But then I realized that when the kid is 18 the LAST thing he will want is me tagging along with him to college, so stretching the truth in this one little instance wasn’t going to hurt us so I said:

Me: YES!  We will have so much fun!

So Ethan and I are going to college together.  Where do you think we should go, big ten, ivy league, state school?;)

Fall Fashion Research

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

I am doing more ‘market research’ for design ideas for fall and the holidays… aka watching Fashion Rocks on Tivo.  How cute is Christina lately?  And no I am not going to do that to my hair.  But seriously, how happy are we that she has moved on from her dirrrrrrty days?  You can’t see it in this pic, but I think she is sporting some form of Vamp nail polish… I might have to dig out my bottle from back in the day.  Cause I was around the FIRST time that was a trend.:rolleyes

And Fergie always looks hot, the gold is gorgeous, the headband rocks, the gold shoes LOVE THEM.  But I want to know what she wears underneath that getup.  I mean she is on stage and clearly people can see up her skirt.  Does the girl have builtins or what?

I am very excited for fall, the retro modern look is hot.  As are gold and jewel tones.  And I can’t wait to buy me some peep toe shoes but I refuse, refuse, refuse to do leggings.  Just say no.  Unless you are young enough that you didn’t get to do leggings the first time round.  Clearly that is not the case over here.  Been there, done that, just say no.;)

Wilma Flinstone goes to Cartier

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

I saw my gem guy yesterday, he had tons of great stuff as he always does.  I had on my list white topaz, pearls, deep purple amethyst and vibrant red garnet.  Apparently eggplant is the new black for fall.;)  I came home with NO dark amethyst.  I don’t know what happened, I had it in my hot little hands yet somehow I didn’t buy any.

I did however come home with some more rustic items.  I am feeling this whole Wilma goes to Cartier vibe lately.  The mix of the rustic, naturalness of say white coral branches paired with luminous pearls and sparkling cubic zirconias.  I’ve never been a wood jewelry girl, but I think I would do it if I could pair it with the sparkliness of dazzling gemstones.

Here is an example of what I am talking about:

That is me on the left wearing a necklace called ‘White Lightening’ which was also the same necklace that Karen was wearing in the small screen debut of CDM.  That necklace is also getting snatched up by boutiques in Dallas and LA… of course it is not on my website yet, soon, soon, soon, I promise.

My girl on the right is sporting the Patrice which looks fabulous on her.

Alright, gotta go… I got so excited talking about Wilma going to Cartier that I have to go design some more!
