Trunk Show at Amy Kuschel Bride

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I’m doing a week long trunk show at Amy Kuschel’s flagship salon in SF this upcoming week from June 2nd through June 6th. I will be there through the week off and on, depending on when Uncle Paul can take care of my darling Scarlett. Or maybe I should just bring her with, she is really getting into bridal jewelry lately. On the other hand, best not to introduce her to the joys of the wedding dress at the tender age of 2, we will have to wait on that one.;)

I totally need this;)

Friday, May 29th, 2009

This is why my husband will never read my blog. Ridiculous ramblings about silly stuff that nobody needs, but we all definitely need! Check this stuff out, the hair bumpit! We need this, right?
bumpits How many times have you teased the hell out of the back of your head to get a bump goin? I had a bump for my wedding do, I was channeling J Lo. Remember the Love Don’t Cost a Thing video? I needed that hair for my wedding hair.

What am I talking about, I need that hair today. Come to think of it, I might need to order 2 sets.

Curb Appeal

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

We don’t have any. Clearly we need to do something with our ‘garden’ if you could even call it that, but let’s look past that into the house color, shall we? Here is the unassuming front of the house:

Then the side down the driveway which is in desperate need of help as well, keep looking past, keep looking past:
front side bungalow
Then the back, son in my cowboy hat from when I wrangled.;)

And now onto the deck, with my disheveled daughter saying ‘CHEEEEEEEEESE!’

I show you this last pic not only because she is ridiculously cute even when disheveled, but I ask that you notice the color of the sash in the window to the left. It is Evergreen from Marvin and it is staying. So all the sashes will be this green, the closest paint match I can find is Roycroft Bottle Green from Sherwin Williams.

So what color scheme do I go with? I like this, yellow walls, green trim with cream trim and a red door. But the door is so sunken you can hardly even see the color on it. And the doors in the rear are glass with cream colored trim.

LOVE this designer

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

I have always been a huge fan of Tord Boontje, his work is simply amazing. I am a girly girl at heart, shocker.;) I have always been attracted to frilly, shiny, sparkly, feminine. But I don’t like ‘old fashioned’ girly, that can quickly turn into ‘grandma-y’ which is not the girly girl look I am drawn to at all. Tord has a way of combining modern and organic in a way that totally draws in this girly girl. I am in love with this garland that you simply wrap around a hanging lightbulb.

I want it, I need it, I have to have it. I am secretly remodeling rooms in my this-close-to-being-finished-newly-remodeled house so that I can explain to my husband why this light fixture is a NECESSITY. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.;) My only problem would be which one to get, they come in gold, silver and black.

And lookit (Scarlett’s favorite word right now, everything is LOOKIT! LOOKIT! LOOKIT!) once you are done watching it hang around in your bedroom, you can turn it into a table lamp!

His work is amazing, that is a given. But one cannot always come up with a justification for a new hanging garland light fixture for one’s already decked out house. Tord has a solution, clever guy that he is. Adorn yourself with his creations, you don’t need a stinkin room to have some Tord! Check out his line of charms that you hang from a silk cord or a simple gold chain, the possibilities are endless. And they are affordable at $35 for a 3 piece set! They are 18k plated gold and come in 4 different charming combinations. They are also supposed to come in silver plated, but I don’t know if those are out yet.

Go here or here to buy them. You don’t even need to tell your husband. Just serve the fam top ramen for a week.;)

Amethyst Bridesmaid Jewelry

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

A bride contacted me for amethyst jewelry for her bridesmaids. She loved the Tiffany bracelet, but she wanted a coordinating necklace and earrings. I think she is mixing it up and her girls are all going to have coordinating yet different jewelry which is a look I absolutely love. I was never a fan of the carbon copy bridesmaid.;)

Here is the original Tiffany bracelet:

And here are the necklace and earrings I came up with to work within her budget:

Sara’s Bridesmaid Jewelry

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I met Sara a few weeks ago at Amy Kushel’s bridal salon here in San Francisco. She has these great earrings she is wearing with her wedding dress, they have gorgeous orange carnelian stones in them. I love brides that aren’t afraid of a little color! She wanted to do similar colored jewelry for her bridesmaids, and here is what we came up with!

These are from Mary Norton who does amazing things with handbags, shoes, feathers, rhinestones and other embellishments. And I loves me some embellishments.;)

I really should not be in the wedding jewelry business. Every time I see a new style I want to do it all over again!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Belated as it may be.;) I love Saturday Night Live, but lately it has sucked. I watch every week hoping it is going to make me laugh hysterically and most of the time I wonder why I wasted an hour or so of my precious TV watching time on it. But sometimes it totally comes through. Justin Timberlake hosted this past weekend and did a short with Adam Samberg that had me in HYSTERICS. Mom, you won’t find this funny.;)

And if you can’t get that to work here is the link to the NBC site to watch it.

Nina Basharova trunk show at Manika this weekend

Friday, May 8th, 2009

If you love jewelry you owe it to yourself to head into San Francisco this Saturday to check out Nina’s jewelry at Manika. Her stuff is exquisite, truly, and even if you aren’t in the market and don’t buy anything you can still admire and ooh and ahhhh. She is a true artist.

Manika is located at 11 Maiden Lane in San Francisco. I might run into you there tomorrow!
